A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism suggests that alcohol consumption may be one of the main culprits when it comes to raising estrogen levels in men. The study looked at nearly 2,000 healthy Danish men between the ages of 18 and 35. It found that those who drank more than 14 alcoholic drinks per week had significantly higher levels of estrogen than those who drank fewer drinks or none at all.
So what does this mean for men? Well, besides potentially increasing your risk for developing hormone-related cancers such as prostate cancer, high estrogen levels can also lead to weight gain, decreased libido and fertility problems.
